Circuit breaker mechanical characteristics analyser
A portable, professional-grade analyser for the mechanical characteristics of high-voltage switchgear — circuit breakers, load switches, GIS combined apparatus, vacuum switches and oil switches. It measures contact travel, operating velocity, opening and closing time, and contact resistance, and derives the full set of mechanical parameters from a single operation.
The DB-8000 records the travel–time curve of an opening or closing operation and derives the complete mechanical parameter set from it, alongside direct measurement of contact resistance and coil current.
The series shares one measurement platform across ten configurations. What differs is channel count and which auxiliary functions are fitted — select on the basis of the switchgear you test most, and whether you need dual-ground testing or an integrated operating supply.

Mechanical characteristics testing establishes that a breaker's operating parameters sit within their allowed range. For detecting mechanical degradation that has not yet moved those parameters, see WP-02 — The defect your timing test cannot see.
Manufactured in China. Selected, supplied and technically supported by HVPACE, Auckland. Warranty and calibration handled locally.
HVPACE is the trading name of Power Asset Condition Engineering Limited, a New Zealand-based supplier of test and diagnostic instruments and selected specialty equipment — such as cable sheath voltage limiters and other low-volume, mission-critical components — for high-voltage power systems. Backed by hands-on engineering expertise, including field-tested condition assessment techniques and AI-based signal analysis, we support customers with diagnostic guidance, methodology development and fault investigation, so they get the most value from the equipment they buy.
